Kits FSC Programs
We offer lessons at the CanSkate, PreStar, and StarSkate 1 Development, and StarSkate levels 2+, including off-ice conditioning and Adult variations. Lessons are taught by Skate Canada Certified Professional Coaches.
Parents / Guardians must remain on-site at the rink for the duration of each lesson. If you need to leave, you MUST provide another adult to be responsible for your child in case of an emergency.
CanSkate - Child
Skate Canada's flagship learn-to-skate program. Focuses on fun, participation, and basic skill development. Coaches make sessions active using teaching aids, music, and a wide variety of activities that create a fun environment and promote learning. CanSkate is the feeder program to all other Skate Canada Skating Programs.
Will result in completion of Pre-CanSkate through CanSkate Stage 6.
CanSkate - Adult
Skate Canada's flagship learn-to-skate program, tailored for Adult beginners. Learn the same basic skill development in an environment customised for mature skaters. CanSkate is the feeder program to all other Skate Canada Skating Programs.
Helmets remain mandatory for all participants at this level.
Will result in completion of Pre-CanSkate through CanSkate Stage 6.
Pre-StarSkate
Learn advanced CanSkate skills and introduce stroking, edgework, and turning. The PreStar Program consists of 1– 4 days a week of on and off ice group lessons.
Required prior to registration: CanSkate Stages 5 + 6
Will result in the completion of StarSkate 1 assesments
StarSkate 1 - Development
Recommended 2–4 days a week of on ice and off ice group lessons. Skaters will develop skills: stroking, spinning, jumping, and spirals.
Competitive Skaters:
Encouraged to participate in a
StarSkate Level 1 competition
Required prior to registration: CanSkate Stage 6
PreStar / Beginner Star 1
Entrance is by coach recommendation.
StarSkate 2+
Skaters may wish to progress to the Skate Canada Competitive Program. StarSkate sessions are offered at several skills levels;
Junior, Intermediate, and Senior.
Ice times may be broken up into the following sessions:
Freeskate, Open ice,
Spins, Skills/Dance, Enrichment
StarSkaters and Competitive Skaters may engage a KitsFSC Skate Canada Certified Coach to teach private lessons. Ice time fees are paid to the Club, whilst private lesson fees are paid to the Coach.
Required prior to registration: Passed Star 1
Continuing StarSkate testing and/or Star level competition.
Entrance is by coach recommendation.
StarSkate 2+ - Adult
The same StarSkate structure adapted to mature skaters.
Ice times may be broken up into the following sessions:
Freeskate, Open ice,
Spins, Skills/Dance, Enrichment
Coaches are available to work closely with individuals to tailor goals and objectives best suited to the skater.
Required prior to registration: Passed Star 1
Entrance is by coach recommendation.
